Position Overview: Psychotherapist (Independent Contractor)

Introduction:  Blossom Center for Integrative Psychiatry is a flourishing self-pay psychiatric practice in Alexandria, VA.  We offer an unparalleled level of depth and breadth to clients who wish to truly understand and improve their mental health. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled psychodynamic therapist to join our team. This position offers competitive pay, flexible hours, professional development, educational opportunities, and administrative and marketing support. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial evaluations to determine clients’ needs and develop treatment plans.

  • Provide individual therapy sessions based on clients' treatment goals and therapeutic needs.

  • Work with clients in-person when clinically indicated.

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with ethical and legal standards.

  • Refer clients to appropriate resources and services as needed.

  • Work with Medical Director to develop online presence, including blog posts.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including supervision as needed.

  • Adhere to licensure and continuing education requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.

  • Current licensure in Virginia as a Psychologist (PsyD or PhD), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

  • Demonstrated experience in providing psychodynamic psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, and/or groups.

  • Proficiency in conducting therapy via telehealth platforms.

  • Own experience as a psychodynamic patient or willingness to engage in own psychodynamic treatment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish therapeutic relationships with clients.

  • Willingness to learn and to discuss multiple perspectives on client symptoms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensure in DC and Maryland.

  • Ability to work with children and adolescents.

  • Experience working with mood, anxiety and trauma disorders.

  • Interest in working primarily in-person

  • Interest in integrative medicine including nutrition and Traditional Chinese Medicine

  • Consultations with Medical Director to discuss patient cases and deepen applicant’s understanding of mental health. 

  • Administrative support for documentation and billing through electronic medical record system, Simple Practice.
