Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a form of talk-therapy dedicated to understanding and uncovering one’s deepest self. It is based on the understanding that people often experience profound disconnects between what they think, feel, want and behave, and that these disconnects lead to suffering. Through the therapeutic act of talking and sharing, patients will put these pieces together in a way that finally feels right.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia

Effective treatment of insomnia requires attention to physical, emotional and behavioral factors. Treatment will begin with an assessment of patients’ current sleep patterns followed by a targeted plan of intervention. Patients will learn the mechanisms of sleep and insomnia and, if necessary, undergo a guided change in sleep behaviors and habits in order to reset their entire system. An average course of CBT-I is 6-10 weekly sessions.

Medication and supplement management

Medications and supplements can be an important part of a comprehensive treatment plan. However, it can be difficult to find a psychiatrist who sees medication as a part of a treatment plan, rather than a sole treatment. We strive to fill that gap by providing a detailed and nuanced understanding approach to pharmacology. Whether patients are in interested in starting or stopping medication, we can partner with them to identify their best course of action.

Nutritional Counseling

Eating is fundamentally a process of nourishment. Bearing this core principle in mind, we provide nutritional counseling focused on the traditional preparation of whole, unprocessed foods to maximize nutrient absorption. In addition, we will help patients understand their lifestyle and relationship with food in order to make lasting changes.
